craftgrrl | First foray into sewing clothes

I didn't watch the Oscars last night...I actually made

No pattern. I just measured my waist, cut the fabric on the bias (straight across for the hip panel), pinned it on the dress form and started hacking and stitching. The bottom's not done - I was originally going to hem it and hack off the dangly extra, but I kinda like the multiple-hem unneven thing. I'm going to play with it some more tonight. The stitching is done in hot pink. The fabric was from the craft thrift shop, $1.10 for 2 yards, and I have lots left over.
I may even make this a dress with a plunging v-neckline done up with a single pink button across the chest, but I'm not sure...
