A query

Ok, I'd like to make this purse, but the person who made it used clear tape over the cards, and duct tape inside. My question, and I've wondered this about all purses, wallets, etc made from tapes of any kind - like all the awesome duct tape ones that are made from different colors and such - is doesn't the tape eventually start to peel off/get dirty?

I made the outside of the bag with clear contact paper so as to reduce this risk, but I'm at a loss as to how to finish it so that there are no raw edges of tape/contact paper that could get dirty/peel. I've thought about lining the inside with some cute fabric, but again...what to do with the raw edges of the fabric? The best solution I can think of is to take some binding or bias tape and go around the outside edges...but I think I would probably have to glue it instead of sewing...which brings me back to the peeling/dirty question again.

Is this even a problem in bags you guys have made? Am I just being overly paranoid?
