so a note on rubber cement-

it really really sucks

a few years ago I decided I wanted to put tracing paper over my windows (they are all sectioned off... like the window I did it to has 24 panes, 12 of which are regular glas, the other 12 are textured) so they would look japaneseish.

and I used rubber cememnt for this

bad idea

about six months later I tried to get it off with a razor blade and only had moderate luck and it was producing this really scary powder that I assumed to be toxic.

never fully got htem off.

and now Im trying again (even though I kinda like the shape that looks like alaska...)

and it sucks.

rubber cement sucks.

and I just had to tell everyone.

edited to add:

I am not looking for suggestions as to what to try to get this off (my options are a) water and scraping or b)heavy duty solvents like acetone or lacquer thinner)
nor am I looking for suggestions as to what to do better next time (because I will NOT be doing this again! ahh!) this is just meant as a warning that if you leave rubber cement in the sun, or use it as a long term adhesive, it loses the ability to peel off. thats why I used it in the first place. instead of peeling off and balling up, it turned into a powder.

the end.
