purses for birthdays!

Two purses I finished today for two of my girlfriends back home! Being away (far far away! I'm in London, they're in Texas!) means I miss their birthdays, so I decided to make them something as it's so much more special than buying things.
The first one is a larger tote, as the lady it's for is a nurse and she totes around a lot of junk. :) The body of the purse is made from gorgeous camel coloured linen canvas (that smells really good for some reason! Kind of like incense and beeswax ??) and the front panel is some vintage fabric that I had lying about. The front panel has a deep pocket and is bordered with satin ribbon. The interior is lined with the same fabric as the panel and there is a zipper pocket.
The second one is a bucket bottomed purse (is that the correct term? oh well, you know what i mean) and is a bit smaller. It's made from the same linen canvas, and the front panel is made from super hot pink vintage placemats made from loosely woven linen. I bought them in an unopened package at a charity shop, and they are just as vibrant as the day they were made!! The floral fabric is from a pair of vintage curtains I picked up somewhere. Interior lined with same floral fabric and a little pink pocket inside.
Wooh! I got a bit wordy there. :) I'm crossing my fingers that they like them (my fear of making presents for friends is that they will like it, but it won't be something they wear)! I hope all of you like them too! <3
