I am going to have my 2nd and 3rd grade students make concrete poems (poems that are in the shape of something related to the subject-such as a giraffe-or form the shape of the letters of the title) and I want to offer them a creative way to do this. I've thought of having them write the poems in crayon and go over it with watercolors, which makes the crayon stand out, but that seems pretty confining in terms of allowing them to express their individual ideas... I was hoping there might be some other ideas out there that are more creative but still within an 8 or 9 year old's ability level.
