question for all you super people!

Well, as you all may know, opening day for baseball season is approacing and I'm a Texas Rangers fan. Here's my question: If I wanted to make a blanket with their logo, would handstitching the fleece work well or would I need to buy one of those handheld $15 sewing machines? I cant afford a real sewing maching and I dont know what would work best with fleece because I don't sew (yet). Thanks guys! Any help would be appreciated! Also, and tips on how to sew fleece best would make you my new best friend!
