magazine project
Mar. 23rd, 2005 11:55 pmthis semester i am taking a class called art magazines and publications. it's an art history class. the other day in class our professor had us use part of the class to think up a proposal for some sort of magazine that we would be interested in. so my friend kaitlyn and i came up with a fun idea and we plan on making it for our final project.
and so, i'd like some feedback on whether or not you guys would find this to be a fun publication and if you'd participate.
ok, so the idea behind it would be an exchange of sorts. for our proposal we said that this would be a quarterly publication. each issue would come with a set of instructions and materials to complete a small project. each issue you would also get the address of ONE other subscriber, who would be the person you send your finished product to.
the idea that we proposed for the "first issue" was a photo flipbook of sorts. (because in class we were told to pretend that budget was no issue we magically said that everyone would get/have polaroid cameras and film) in the issue you would get specifications for size and format, instructions on how to put the book together and a theme to base your story on.
and like said..once you were finished you would send your entire issue (packaging and all) to the person who's name you'd recieved.
and because i'm nuts about having music involved in everything, i suggested that we also have in the issue a cd with a few songs that could go with the project. (we really really wanted to include music in this, but it's nothing set in stone)
we're also entirely aware of how demanding of the viewer/creator this all is.
so yeah, i realize that is probably a really horrible explanation and you guys are all thinking WORST IDEA EVER, SARAH, WAY TO GO. but seriously, it seems that a lot of you like to be involved in exchanges, so i thought i would share the idea because kaitlyn and i are pumped.
also, if our proto-type comes together well, we might send a few out, just as a test and i will need some dedicated crafters/artist as testers. :)
