my friend wanted a knitted ipod sock. she only wanted a blue one, and didn't want to shell out the $30 for the official ones. so she had me make one. :)

caron sayelle "dark federal blue" : $1.00 (clearance!)
size 6 double pointed needles : 4.29
michael's 40% off coupon : - 1.72
tax: 0.29
total cost = $3.86

(i had a little bit of a lighter blue leftover)

this was my first project on dpn's, and it took me a little while to get the hang of it, but once i did, it was pretty easy. this project too me maybe two hours or so, on and off, since i was also watching tv & talking on aim. lol. it fits her ipod perfectly, so she's happy. :)

and to avoid having to type this out later, i thought i'd share:

materials
size 6 (4mm) double pointed knitting needles (mine are 7")
worsted weight yarn in an MC (main color) and LC (lighter color)
i think it's 10-ply worsted weight yarn that i used. regular cheap acrylic stuff.

gauge
finished ipod sock will measure a little over 2" by 5"

pattern
with MC, cast on 24. leave a long beginning tail to stitch up the bottom later.
spread stitches evenly onto three dpn (8 stitches per needle).

work in k2, p2 rib pattern for 4.5"
switch to LC and continue working in k2, p2 rib pattern until sock is about 5".
bind off.

using long beginning tail, stitch the bottom closed. weave in the rest of the ends, yada yada, tada! :)
