I don't carry a wallet, which means I don't really get to carry around photos in my bag/purse. However, I had received some photos of my godson in the mail a few months back and wanted them with me. Months later, while at work, I noticed that a corner or two were starting to turn from just sitting in a pocket of my bag. Terrible!

At work I'm currently attempting to not go to sleep. I'm in the middle of a very big, very slow project with lots of lulls in between processes. That just means I work for a minute or two, sit and stare at a cubicle wall for twenty or thirty. So, I bring yarn and a hook to do whatever I feel like.

On tuesday I started playing with a simple intarsia stitch. Seeing as how I only had a regular Boye hook, I wasn't going to be making a huge project. On wednesday I brought the same supplies with me. I wanted to tinker with the intarsia again as I thought it to be very interesting--both sides so different, with different textures... one with a weaving, the other with rows of bumps/ridges.

Then I noticed my godson's photo again. I immediately started crocheting. I ended up with an intarsia'd 6"x8" rectangle. I rolled and folded and whip stitched and now...

He now, with the help of a push-pin, hangs on my cubicle wall, so at least there's something more to look at then the beige fabric or the ridiculous company-given calendar.

Because of the angle, and the fact that this isn't a macro shot, you can't see the raised edges from the wrong side of the intarsia. And the weaved right side is behind the picture. But the color is practicaly dead-on and the size in the picture is about an inch from the actual size. :)
