Girl Weirded Out by Microorganisms
May. 4th, 2005 03:33 pmHello again, I have another etching for all of your eyes to consume:

Have any of you ever read the "Weekly Reader" in school when you were a kid? It's a newspaper for kids and I use the word "newspaper" loosely. Well, when I was just knee high to a cupcake I read this article in the Weekly Reader about microorganisms in ponds and how if there is an inordinant amount of these organisms for any number of reasons, that they can make pond or lake swimmers sick. Unfortuntely for me I was going on a camping trip with my dad in two weeks. Now can you imagine a 6-7 year old pacing the outter edges of a pond debating whether or not she should chance getting into it. Imagine her hunkering low staring at the water with increasing intensity, trying by mere will to spy on any smaller than small floating germies. Imagine her talking out loud, saying stuff like, "Well, what are the chances and maybe, if I keep my eyes and mouth shut tightly" and so on.
Yes folks, I was a weird kid and that summer all the kids thought so.
