[identity profile] dragonfly1867.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
Hello! I am trying batik for the first time. I have cotton clothing blanks from Dharma trading company and fiber reactive dye. I soaked the clothes in the soda ash, then started to dye them for the undercolor. I was going to do a sort of streaky effect, but the colors turned out darker than I expected and I am wondering if there won't be enough contrast when I add the second layer of color. Is there any way to lighten the colors--maybe dip the garment in bleach water? Or will they look lighter when they dry?
