First, the question:
A friend of mine (who is now out of town for the holidays) was working on a really neat type of homemade christmas ornament. It looked like she was folding pyramid-shaped things out of cardboard and wrapping them in embroidery floss. She had a pattern and instructions for this which appeared to be photocopied from a crafty-type-book.
Has anyone ever heard of this sort of thing, and can they point me in the right direction for findout what what/how? (I've checked the faq/memories section and not seen anything, but I didn't read through every post.)
Now for the picture:
My friends and I have been making sock monkeys lately. There's a girl at my school who is (I'm not kidding) doing her senior thsis on sock monkeys. I thought that was ridiculous at first, but I realized after a while that it is indeed folk art. And fun, too. :P
Here are my babies. I made them for Christmas presents, but I may have a hard time parting with them:

Here are some instruction sites. (Not mine, just ones I found on the web.)
