hello all!
May. 30th, 2005 11:16 pmHi there! I wanted to share something I made with you!
I've been knitting for a long time but have been dying to get into other crafts.... so for my good grades in my first year of college (I made the Dean's List! Hooray!) my mommy bought me a sewing machine! And I wanted to share my first project with you! It's a paintbrush holder!
So my boyfriend Philip is an artist, and he always has extra canvas left over... he usually throws it away but being the crafty goddess that I am, I told him to save it and give it to me!
So I made him a paintbrush holder.... I meant to have it roll up, but I acutally like it better folding. It's about the size of a text book when folded up. The inside is made out of canvas and the outside is made from this fuzzy-ish fabric I got at a thrift store. There's a green ribbon around the outside to tie it shut. I'm very proud of it because I didn't use a pattern or anything... I just sort of went by ear. And I think it turned out great!

the front.... that's his name
unfolded just a bit, to tease you!

the inside.... there's individual pockets for brushes

close ups of the words and please ignore my awful stitching! I didn't really measure... I sort of wanted it to be born of inspiration, so yeah, it's not perfect. but i love it anyway.
and my favorite part.... the quote. it reads "the artist is a recepticle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web. -pablo picasso". I stole it from my brother's yearbook.
So there you have it! Thanks for letting me share!
if you didn't click on the cut, you are a very very naughty girl or boy!
