Quick Question

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, and if it has, you can delete it.
But I wanted to do some decoupage. Since I'm broke, I wanted to use stuff I already have. would any kind of glue work, or do I have to get a special kind. I remember doing something like it when I was younger, and I used Elmer's glue. Is that ok? And now that I think of it, is hot glue ok to use?
