crafting for the american cancer society
Jun. 12th, 2005 11:32 amon june 10th and 11th, i participated in my school's relay for life, an all-night event whose proceeds were donated to the american cancer society. teams of 10+ people were formed, and the teams set up a tent and at least one person from each team had to walk around the high school track all night. teams sold things, and there was a dj and everything- very fun.
the little symbol that goes with it is a purple hope ribbon, and so i ordered molds offline and had a great time with them.

the melted chocolate was so. good.

freaking bowl full! i wanted to eat them all.

here's a close up on the ribbon. my table isn't a very flattering background, but you get the idea.
then i gave the mold a good cleaning, and made soap!

i love how the purple color came out, it is absolutely exactly how i pictured it.

here they are displayed. the color looks brighter and prettier in person, trust me.
i made all different scents: eucalyptus mint, lavender, cucumber melon, jasmine oil, and green tea.
i made over 100 chocolate ribbons and probably close to 80 soaps, and unfortunately, very few of them sold at the event. so i have a whole bunch of chocolate and soap just sitting here. a lot of effort wasted, but it was for a good cause, and i'm proud of how the things turned out.
