wooly potatoes
Jun. 12th, 2005 09:13 pmI made wool felt potatoes for an ornament swap in a primitive/folk art crafting community I belong to. I chose to make potatoes because I live in Ireland, and I like objects shaped like vegetables (I collect kitchenalia shaped like vegetables, in fact).
I felted some 100% wool fabric and dyed it brown. I cut, sewed, and stuffed the potatoes, then ran random stitches through them to simulate the eyes on the potatoes. I also added some french knots to look like the eyes were starting to sprout. I added a jute hanger, and a kraft tag which says '100% Irish spud' tied on with crochet cotton.
