sprucing up a VERY bland mirror
Aug. 12th, 2005 09:11 pmSo I haven't worked with clay since in ages. The last time I played Cranium--and I don't think this counts--I made an Audrey II and then set it upon my opponents game pieces. They were not amused.
Anyway I've got this super cheapo wall mirror from wally world. The $5 full length variety--brown frame, very boring, very cookie cutter, not very me. The kind of mirrors I like, I can't afford.
For those of you who work with clay (or wood, or hell styrofoam, I just figures clay would be most economic) do you think it would be feasable to sculpt a corner motif (I haven't decided on leaves or something more architectural) to turn this mirror into something a little more special? I'm shooting for an oval shape as the end result, but I'm not sure if I'll lose too much mirror space or if a first timer should even approach something like this.
Just an idea I've been toying with as I pack for my move. Advice/nudges in a good direction are appreciate.
Edit: Etching would be fun, but for this project it's actually the frame I'm looking to cover/revamp.
