Bleeding Heart Cake
Aug. 20th, 2005 05:21 pmHey everyone! I'm a newbie, but I've been reading this journal for a while, and even back about eight months when I had a different journal, I joined for a while, but I never posted. So here I am, and I just wanted to say that eveyone here does the most awesome work ever! Keep it up!
As my title indicates, I have made a bleeding heart cake. My boyfriend of four months (whom I am madly in love with) loves that special effects/halloween stuff (he makes some awesome halloween displays at his house, I'll take pictures of that this year to show 'em to you all). And I had heard of a cake, that when properly hooked up to a turkey baster will "beat". I thought something like that would be awesome for said boy because he's just weird like that. However, it was rather hard finding out exactly how to get the cake to beat. But when I looked up a recipe online (this one) and found a bleeding heart cake. I was so excited I almost wet myself. So without further ado, here is the cake!

These are the two regular round cakes I had to sandwich together, to make the cake tall, so I would have enough room to cut a hole in to put the filling, and still have enough actual cake left over to eat. (if confused, visit the website I mentioned up there, I'm no good with instructions ;0) )

This is my craptacular drawing of how I really wanted the cake to look.

This is the actual cake, with the words "My Heart Bleeds For You" around it on the plate. When the boy cuts into the cake, the filling I put in, will leak out, giving the illusion of it bleeding. Or at least I hope so.

Just one more picture, with better ligthing, to view the cake.

And just a larger picture of the whole thing again. I realized when I first posted it I was using the thumb-nail pictures URL instead of the real sized. Sorry guys and gals!
Hope you all enjoyed it!
