[identity profile] beezus.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
hello... apologies if you've read about this before, i haven't posted this on any other lj comms (except [livejournal.com profile] diyrevolution), but i have posted it on various places on the web. i just want to get it to as many different groups of crafters as possible, so please feel free to repost/pass this on.

so here goes:

I'm collecting submissions from artist/makers/crafters in order to document my artistic/craftastic community...

why: Because in this e-age where people dialogue, create and conceptualize over the ethernet, I may not recognize someone on the street who I participated in an art show with or interviewed or traded mix tapes with. This bugs me.

I want to document the makers and geniuses and creators who make my inbox lively and my days brighter by their imaginations and gifts. My past research has shown that we are in the midst of a craft resurgence that is unparalled, thanks to the internet. This craft resurgence started before the war, which is much unlike any handmade boom in the past hundred years- all of which were war-based.

I would like to make this into an actual film documentary, where I travel the country meeting the crafters and artists who I interact with online all the time, but for now, it's going to be a photo-based project.

who: People who either make stuff and sell it or people who make political/charitable stuff. Yes, I think knit hobbyists are important. But that's not what I am interested in documenting at the moment. I am interested in the exchange of ideas and concepts and conversations that occur between people who are either making things for profit or to make the world a better place, either charitably, ethically or politically. (That being said, I think that everytime you make something with your own two hands you are making the world a better place.)

the above text was taken from here if you this strikes your fancy. and i hope it does! if not, thanks for reading anyway.
