I made yarn!

After taking a look at my preferred crafting activities over the past few weeks, I've figured out that I enjoy the yarn more than I enjoy the knitting or crocheting of it. My yarn stash grows by leaps and bounds, but my knitting pace stays much the same...

Now, on to the photos!


"Shockbert."
Domestic wool singles, spun to self stripe in pink, yellow, and various tweedy percentages of the two.

This one isn't nearly as eye-scorching in real life, I promise. I had an impromptu photo shoot this morning, and was relying on the flash for most of the illumination of the photos. I plan to do a better job of capturing the colors one day this weekend in bright morning sunlight.


"Welchy Silk"
2 ply merino and silk, about worsted weight.

This stuff is SO SOFT. I have another ball of singles, and about 4 ounces of unspun fiber left. I should get my hands on some more, because I'll be so sad when I don't have any left to spin.


"Bluebie Sparkles"
2 ply wool, angelina flash, and angora, dyed and blended by snapcrafty.

The color is fairly accurate in this one, but the sparkliness of the angelina flash isn't as apparent in the photo. This is the most monstrous skein I ever spun. About as long as my forearm and at least as big around as my bicep. It's so squooshy and lofty. I'm thinking scarf or hat. This is only about half of that fiber lot, so there should be plenty for a matching set.


"Seamus Sherbet"
Wool singles, dyed by lefthandpinkie.

Again, not so color accurate. It really looks like the Bluebell Mango Strawberry sherbet that my boyfriend can't seem to get enough of, but with occasional flashes of hot pink and brighter orange. While it was on the spindle, he picked it up and was threatening to lick it like a popsicle. Very puffy and soft, and I think once I get it skeined, Bluebie Sparkles will lose his place of honor as Largest Skein Ever.


Here's a photo for scale. See? GIANT. The little tiny one is some of the Seamus Sherbet that I plied before I decided that I didn't like it as well in the 2 ply as I did as singles. The colors of the teeny mini-skein are more accurate than the photo of the massed singles up above.
