Hi everyone, I'm another long time lurker. I finally decided to get myself a journal so I can keep track of what I make.

I'm notorious for jumping between ideas randomly... I got inspired by the great stuff I've seen here and wanted to learn to use a sewing machine so I could make bigger stuff than I usually hand sew. Unfortunately, when I'd found one my mind wasn't really on sewing anymore, and I picked up a couple of cans of car paint I had lying around...

If anyone could give me advice on finishing off the bits I didn't want to spray at the time, that'd be great.

Spontaenous as doing this was, it really needed it. It was originally a combination of shiny white metal paint and very yellowed plastic. It was pretty simple really, just a bit time consuming, and I'm hardly an expert on spraypainting but the finish is good enough. I used a lot of masking tape for the detail, and plastic bags or cardboard sheet to protect larger areas.

I can't recommend anyone else try it though! I know most sewing machines cost a lot of money and I picked this one up for the equivalent of $20. I did cover up every single hole that gave access to the inside, though. I don't know how long the coat of paint will last, since I only used some old spraycans I found in the shed. The machine probably still works...  if it packs in it'll still look cool in my room! Oh dear.

Can anyone give me any advice on the fascia and the dial? I'm not sure whether or not to just leave them as they are. I was thinking of using a paper/card overlay for the fascia.
