craftgrrl | dumb question..memory wire and crimps

Maybe i'm just retarded, or maybe my crimps are too small...

but it seems to me that crimps don't 'stay' on memory wire? i wanted to use them to make some floating bits on a memory wire necklace, but they just seem to flatten out all funny and then slide around anyways...am i doing it wrong? or is it just the fickleness of the wire?

if i can't use them..what *can* i use to make floating bits on memory wire? or am i..uh..s.o.l ?

and i have all this crap to photograph and show off, but i'm tired, so..well sorry about questions only with no showoffs!
