some pictures and a question

ok so i made these and they came out pretty well except that they are too big so they kinda slip off my feet when i walk in them. my question is, what's the best way to shrink something knit with acrylic yarn, or is it even possible? i was gonna just try washing and drying them hot and see if that works, but i don't want to ruin them so i wanted to ask you girls if you've had any experience with this...
