MASK!... and another craft
Sep. 19th, 2005 08:37 pmWell, Hallowe'en is coming ever so quickly so this weekend I thought I'd get a jump on my costumes. So I spent most of Sunday day making a cast of my face (in my super easy and non messy way, to be explained later), paper mache-ing and generally mask making. And here's the fruits of my labours:

The first image is another finished product, the last two are the mask before it was painted. The last one is just my sketech I had before I made the mask.
The way I make a cast of my face (dosen't use any messy plaster bandages or anything)
Basically, I just get a roll of electrical tape (the black stuff that's not *too* sticky). I cut off a pile of strips that are like 4 inches long. I then cover my entire face with the tape leaving no holes except for the eyes and a hole over the mouth so you can still breathe (very important). Then when thats done, just peel off the tape in one big peice, it comes off easily as the tape isn't too sticky. Then just cover the back of your cast with another layer of tape, this stops it from sticking to itself, plus makes the thing stronger. Now you've got your very own face model, you can paper mache right on top of it too, and re-use it because the glue/paste dosent stick to it.
My other craft, basically just a styrofoam ball with about 2000 toothpicks stuck into it.

That's all for now folks.
