using a dremel on small items

craftgrrlHas anyone used a dremel on a small item. I know folks have drilled or dremeled) holes into maj-jong tiles or dice, but I haven't seen specifically how.
I'd like to dremel holes into acorns to turn them into beads. I'm guessing I need to clamp them down somehow so that I can drill a hole into them without losing a finger, but I'm not sure how to approach this.
My crafting up to this point has been limited to pretty tame stuff: knitting, crocheting, beading, painting, etc. This step towards power tools use scares me. Using the power saw in middle school gave me nightmares.
