I have the Speedball starter screen printing kit... but i don't use the big screen that came with it, (because i'm afraid of ruining it.. or making a design that i'll want to keep forever) instead I make my own frames by stapling screen printing cloth to ikea frames. My first & second screens ever, I used organza and mod podge, and that worked out really well. The first time, I had little air holes in the mod podge.. but the second time, I put food coloring in it so I could see where it was on the screen.

But now.... I am using the speedball screen filler that came with the kit, and painting it on with a paintbrush. I get lots of little pinholes/airholes where the filler just decided not to fill.. and this forces me to go back over the screen several times, despite me layering on the filler pretty thickly.

Are there any other brands of screen filler you recommend that are thicker or something? Or is it a problem with painting with a paintbrush?

I just made this awesome screen... and I really hope it doesn't wind up having too many holes when it dries.
