Being part of the curvy girl population sometimes has it's challenges. Finding cute clothes to fit being on the top of that list. My solution is to use my modest sewing skills and create things that I love and actually want to wear. No muu-muus for me, thanks.
Click to see what I made this weekend.
I am no model, ahem, but here it goes (no face, 'cause no shower yet today):

The flower was incredibly easy and I think it's feminine and cute.

The pretty fabric close-up.

Lookie, darts! I actually did darts! Weeeeee!

Zippy zipper and lining.

I bought the black fabric at Jo-ann's, for 3 dollars a yard. And the twill-like skirt fabric is from G Street at 2.97 a yard.
Both are cotton, though the skirt has a smidgen of spandex for stretch. I think it's 95/5.
And I purchased the patterns on eBay for cheap, like 4 bucks each.
The whole outfit was made for under 25 bucks!
I'm pretty proud of the whole thing. I kept jumping around and squeeing when showing my husband my fine work.
I tackled a zipper, darts, and a lining. Not too bad for a first skirt.
I followed patterns for both items, but did some tweaking of my own to get things the way I wanted. (Like the skirt pattern didn't call for a lining, but I felt it would look better and lay better with one.)
So that's it, thanks so much for looking!!
Have a wonderful day everybody!
