Pricing Question
Nov. 30th, 2005 11:41 amHello! I am just getting into the swing of things in terms of creating merch, marketing, etc. The only thing that I constantly struggle with are prices! I have turned to friends for some items, math for others (simple material costs + labour stuff), and now I turn to you all!
My question is, how much do I charge for shirts similar to this:

The materials were $11, but the time would be calculated as 2-3 hours!!! My lowest hourly rate being $11/hr. $44 seems a little steep for a shirt, no? If, however, I reduce my rate to minimum wage (about $6) that is still $35. Is this too much to charge for a shirt? I spent a lot of time on it making sure that all of the seams were serged and that the fit was right. I will probably get faster as I adapt to making more shirts like these (this is my first 3/4 sleeve and I made the red shirt body from scratch). Should I take a loss on this shirt or suck it up and demand proper compensation?
I hope this type of question is allowed; it isn't an advertisement since the shirt would not be sold online, but at a local diy craft event.
ERK?!
