Beaded Candlesticks (how to)
Jan. 3rd, 2003 09:00 pmA while back, I posted a photo of these beaded candlesticks that I made for my mom, for Hanukkah. Someone asked me how I made them, but I never got around to answering. For that person, and anyone else who is interesting,
I cut a piece of beading thread about 18 inches long, and tied a silver seed bead on one end. Then I strung enough silver seed beads to wrap around the top part of the candlestick, and then ran the thread through that first bead.
For the vertical part, I strung five silver seed beads, then a clear blue seed bead, then a silver bugle bead, then a clear blue seed bead, silver bugle, clear blue seed bead, silver bugle, clear blue seed bead, and then five silver seed beads. Then I put on one more bead and wrap the thread through it once so that the part you just did is secure, but you still have the length of the thread to work with.
Then you just string enough silver seed beads to drape around the base of the candlestick - it should be long enough to drape gracefully but not long enough to fall off. When there are enough on there, run the thread back through the vertical section (for security) and tie it off.
