Dec. 11th, 2005 08:08 pmFirst were the tags.
I really just winged it making them. After a few failed and complicated attempts I figured out that all I had to do was adhere the striped paper to the cardstock base. I haven't got one of those neat paper trimmer things, so I used a ruler and an X-acto knife to cut out the base and the paper overlays, and then used Sticky Dots Adhesive (which I just happened to have, because I guarantee I wouldn't have known about it to use for this otherwise) to put them together. On one side of the tag the paper goes horizontally, and on the other side it goes vertically. I really liked making these, and should I be given a paper trimmer for Christmas, I may just make a bunch of tags. . . .
Next, the wrapping paper.
I located some butcher's paper, but when it came to stamps there wasn't much of a selection. I just wasn't thrilled with anything I found. Finally I settled on this starlike shape, and because I don't really use rubber stamps, figured I would stamp with paint. Not a good idea--it made for very messy shapes. After about fifteen feet I made myself stop, knowing I was not going to be happy with the way it looked, and went out to get a pink inkpad (I had the green already). It worked SO much better, and as I stood over my creation, I was heard to say, "This could get addictive." I may have to start giving more presents just so I can make more wrapping paper!!
