Knifty Knitter here I come!

craftgrrlOk, with both Micheals and Hobby Lobby running a sale on the legendary Knifty Knitter (~$10), I'm taking the plunge. Everyone is raving how easy it is, but once I get past the hat, I'm going to need help with figuring out patterns and more complex directions.
I'm pretty excited. By the way, how much yarn am I going to need for an adult size hat?
EDITED TO ADD: Hobby Lobby was completely out of them... and the weather got too nasty to go to Michael's. *sigh* I did get some fantastic yarn though- when I get the hang of it I'm going to make myself a hat combining this black chenelle-y stuff with a soft and super fuzzy white. I can't wait!!
