Dec. 15th, 2005 05:03 pmhellloooo! I am Deanna (don't think I've ever posted here before, oh my) and I've a question. I crochet hats for people to buy annnnd do custom orders. I've some questions! (this is cross posted hardcore) My friend Shane asked me to make him a hat that looks like this:

But 1. I don't know how to do the argyle. Could I simply crochet the hat and then add it on after I was done, somehow? 2. He wants his hat to be really STRONG and sturdy, so that he can wear it up every day in our Ohio winter and have it still be awesome. teenage guy + weed + high friends + sled riding = this hat is going to get the crap beat out of it. 3. It has to be really warm, too.
Should I simply crochet the whole thing, and then add a lining to it to make it warmer? How do I make it sturdier, but still stretchy enough to fit his head and not squeeze his noggin? Thanks muchos.
