Idea, yet problem

So I have come up with an interesting way to wrap my records! I am planning to chop down a button-down shirt (either an old one I've got, or pick one up at a thrift shop) so that the rcord is inside the shirt, and you unbutton it to get to the records. I may also try to embroider the recipients name on the breast of the shirt by way of a tag. I've got one problem, I have a hunch that most of the shirts I can find (namely any of my old ones) will be much too large (girth-ways, not length-ways, that is simple), so could anyone give me some crash-points in making a shirt much smaller (will try to find a smaller shirt anyways).
