Wrapping & Packaging
Dec. 21st, 2005 07:48 pmI was inspired by
howcanueatthat's car to get a little more creative with my wrapping this year. For most of my gifts I've been making fabric gift bags, some of which I screenprinted a design all over, and those have been pretty fun to make. Then I made these ~
Golden Camera for Pop
For our family gift exchange this year we each wrote down three present ideas along with our names to be put in the hat (a great idea!) ~ I drew my Pop who listed three kinds of camera film. Since I'm pretty sure he knows what he will be getting, I decided to make the packaging a little more interesting.

Nothing too big, but I think he will like it. I cut up a cardboard box to form it & wrapped it in gold wrapping paper. I drew all over it with silver Sharpie & added a woven golden cord for the wrist strap. The right side removable lid so that he doesn't have to tear the thing apart to open it.
Gift Card in Disguise
This is for my husband ~ he wanted a model kit for Christmas because he has never put one together before. I wanted him to be able to pick out which one he wants since he wants something "different", so I got him a gift card. I remembered the paper-folded cars from the memories & made up a miniature model car in a display case (I used the Honda link). The car took about 30-40 min. to print, cut out & assemble.
Then I cut up some clear dividers & construction paper & made a display case (the case is about as long as a dollar bill, for size reference). I made the bottom of the case into a drawer to put in the gift card in. The back has a tab to pull out the drawer. I wrapped the whole thing, so now it looks like a normal box-shaped gift. I can't wait to see him open it & try to figure out why I made him a little paper car ;)
