star quilt

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up on the 25th, and I wanted to do something special for him. You see, he's really, really hard to buy for, and everyone ends up giving him money or gift cards. But I didn't want to do that, I'm his girlfriend! I can't be like, "oh, here, I got this for you..." etc. So I was thinking, he has this extreme like of the stars. He's in love with them. So maybe I could make him a quilt or blanket for his bed with the stars, or maybe the constellations, on it? But this is really hard because I don't know where to get started. How would I get them on there? If anyone has any advice or anything, please let me know! Thanks :)
