The Tapestry Set
Jan. 14th, 2006 11:08 pmI made this necklace/earring set for myself a while ago, to coordinate with a tapestry fabric used in some garb of mine. Originally, the centerpiece pendant was intended to be a fine-silver-work heraldric rose with a garnet cabachon in the middle. Unfortunately, the pendant had an accidental run-in with a sword as we were rushing to get ourselves ready for Faire. With no time to re-make it and unwilling to wear even slightly broken work (one of the leaflet points was snapped off), I substituted it with this Bali-style piece of sterling filigree (set with a faceted garnet cab.), which is actually half of a set of cloak clasps.

The "chain" of the necklace is made with sterling chain (a variation on figaro...I couldn't find any rope), along which is intermittendly and alternatingly spaced stone beads. Closest to the pendant, there is...silver bellcap (small leaflet style)--rainbow moonstone bead--silver bellcap (small leaflet style)--[joint]--silver bellcap (large leaflet style)--larger moss agate bead--silver bellcap (large leaflet style) --[joint]--silver bellcap (small leaflet style)--rainbow moonstone bead--silver bellcap (small leaflet style). Then you get silver bellcap (small leaflet style)--medium garnet bead--silver bellcap (small leaflet style). After another space of chain, it goes back to the moonstone-moss agate combination. There are two of each sort of stone bead "break" in the chain, on each side.
The danging earrings (on sterling kidney hoop wires) are made from one of the silver bellcap (large leaflet style)--larger moss agate bead--silver bellcap (large leaflet style) --[joint]--silver bellcap (small leaflet style)--rainbow moonstone bead--silver bellcap (small leaflet style) segments.

Hanging from the bottom of the centerpiece pendant is a large moss agate teardrop.
I just realized I forgot to get a photo of the clasp. It's a silver toggle clasp, in a leaf design.
