my boyfriend and i had fun with beets this weekend.




my boyfriend made the one on the left that actually looks like a rat. mine is the one the right that looks like a strange bat with a monocle.


now, enter the juicer:


the juicing. this shot gives you an idea of how playing with beets always leaves the kitchen looking like a bloodbath took place. not to mention the shock factor that awaits in the toilet bowl the next day, but that's a potentially TMI tangent. sorry.


and, the beet/carrot juice in all its glory. we added juice from 1/2 a lemon to add a little zing, as beets and carrots are rather sweet.


and, for good measure, here are some smiling onions dan discovered last week while preparing dinner:
