which method do you guys prefer for making hollow books and which one works better? Any different methods to try?

1. soaking 8/10ths of the pages in wheat paste and then hollowing it as/after it dries

2. hollowing it and then brushing each page/edge with wheatpaste

and:
is there any way to make pointy toed flats round toed? I've got these velvet pointy toed flats from old navy but I despise the point. they were only $6 so it's worth the experiment..
