Feb. 5th, 2006 05:41 pmI've been a member for so long I thought I might contribute some things I've done finally.
These embroideries I did for my current Textiles Course. The first for my drawing project, and the second for my current Textile Design project. Pretty pleased which how both turned out.

This is mainly a mix of Machine and Hand Embroidery and Applique on Cotton. The Lady is actually padded underneath with some spare wadding I had lying around and the fabric is remnants I got in a shop, apparently from the 70's. This are padded as well.

The second is a photo of my Great Nana and Granddad. He was a Kings Corporal in the Royal Horse Artillery. In this photo I think she was 19 and he in his early 20's. Doesn't look like it. I blew up the photo and use Dylon Tranfer Paste to get it onto the fabric. And then worked over with hand and machine embroidery, with some beading details. All of the fabric is calico soaked in coffee to give it the colour (a bit dark in real life than these photos show) and then a lot of fabric manipulation and messing about with the settings on my machine seeing what I could come up with. It's a brand new Electric Janome and such fun!
