I always love the posts where crafters receive huge quantities of craft stuff for free, so when I received a huge Pretty Punch Kit complete with hundreds of colors of yarn including metallic and glitter yarns, and every accessory you can think of, including two thick books full of iron on transfer designs! I had to post it!

Its a fast, easy, fool-proof way to embroider and make professional looking patches.

Its called the Pretty Punch and it creates almost a miniature latch-hook.

This is the instrument (or needle) used to make the punches. Now not all of the needles come with the spool holder at the top, after going on www.prettypunch.com I discovered that it is an accessory. Whoever the lady was that owned this kit certainly bought every accessory available, because when my grandma gave it to me after researching I discovered I had every attachment possible!

This is an example of the kind of the kind of embroidery it does. Think of the "letters" you get in high school for your lettermens jacket, now they are felt but in the old days they used to be made out of this kind of embroidery.

The only thing you do is thread the needle with this HUGE needle threader, (the needle on the end itself is a tube that goes up through the top) and then thread the yarn coming out of the needle-tube through a hole in the needle. Once you have it threaded you simply start to punch your design. You can adjust the amount of the needle that sticks out by turning the device either way, but it has to be at least about a centimeter long to work properly. The yarn basically punches through the fabric and creates a loop on the other side (your finished project is on the reverse side, you create your design on the backside). If you mess up, all you do is pull the end of your yarn and it all unravels (just like crochet) it isn't double-locked like regular embroidery. I like to put glue on the back side to protect it from coming unraveled when I'm finished.

I recommend this to you all, its a lot of fun!
