Ok, so I'm going to convert the big black bookshelf in my living room into storage for my current sewing projects (instead of it being on the floor in bags or boxes). I was looking into those open top storage cubes because I thought that would look nice and hide my stuff, but they are so expensive!

These are the kind I'm looking at:

I can afford like one or two (maybe), but not as many as I need...lol. I was also looking at these (they're a little too decorated, but I liked the idea):

And then read in the desription-
• Constructed of durable cardboard
• Covered with an attractive pink gingham fabric on the outside with solid pink inside

and though, I bet I can do that!

Question is though, has anyone made things like this? If so, what did you use and how much of an effort was it? Was it worth it, or should I just try to save up and buy the premade ones? I thought that maybe if I used something stiff and sturdy like matte board, and duct taped them together, then covered them with some of my fabric that I don't/can't use (some fabric is too delicate to sew with, or too thick, but could be used for this).

Anyone?
