Velvet Burnouts with Rubber Stamps
Jan. 11th, 2003 06:05 pmHi there - I remember a post quite a while ago discussing burning designs into velvet with rubber stamps. I KNOW it was here somewhere, because I commented with a tip. However, I can't find it in the memories...
So, does anybody have instructions on doing this? I basically know how to do it but I can't remember how long to press with the iron. I'm sure I could experiment but I'd rather not waste my precious velvet :p
Also... I know it doesn't work well to use velveteen, but I was thinking of trying it on some suedecloth (it feels sort of like suede but is much flimsier) to jazz up some skirts I wanted to make. Does anybody have any idea if that would work, or know of another way to burn or otherwise create designs into a fabric like that? Or any other fabric, to boot...
If anybody has some helpful hints I would be very appreciative!
