Fuzzballs and other beasties
Mar. 19th, 2006 11:28 pmHello, fellow makers of stuff. :)

I make cute animal soft toys/accessories/art. At the right is one of my "fuzzballs" - Foxball.
My partner and I invented fuzzballs more than two years ago now, and before I learned to sew I just used to draw them (see my user icon). Once I did learn to sew I just kept making them - they're basically a sphere with feet, tail etc and most furry animals can be made into a fuzzball. People that see them at markets sometimes say "They're just a head!", but that's not right, they're *meant* to be a big fuzzy body with a face on the front.
I make lots of other fur fabric art too, and I'm very proud of myself, because fur fabric can be so expensive I want to squeeze every drop of value I can from it. So first I use it for fuzzballs and other large soft toys. Then I use the offcuts to make eeps. I can use offcuts that are too small for eeps in "pattable pictures" (fur fabric collage). And then, when I have really teeny tiny scraps and leftover fuzz, instead of throwing it away I collect it and mix it with the more expensive synthetic fibre stuffing and use it to stuff (costume) tails. Sorry, I've been meaning to boast about that somewhere...
