When I was about 7 my mom's friend taught me how to knit. I made one horrific tie-like creation and gave it to my best friend (whose mom made him wear it to be nice-tee hee). After that I promptly forgot how to knit and went on with my life.
Fast forward 13 years, a few weeks ago I decided I wanted to learn how again.
I bought a book and figured it out (with moderate cursing and gesticulations of confusion).
My first project was a black and red striped scarf.
It's about 7 feet long and it took me 2 weeks to do.
I'm proud.

a very yucky pic of me showing off my scarf in the hallway of my house.

A pic of me out in the frigid cold of today, where my scarf truley did come in handy.

a close up pic so you can see the texture better.

I'm currently making my dad a scarf that's blue and white (Leaf colours-his fave hockey team) for his birthday, and after that I've been commissioned to make a purple and blacky stripey one for my best friend.
