Polymer + Acrylic = bad?

craftgrrlI made little charm things from polymer clay, baked it, then painted it with acrylic...but the paint keeps on chipping off. Was painting it a bad move? How can I stop it from chipping off? *siiigh* I looked in the memories but I didn't find the answer I was looking for.. Thank you. :]
