My girlfriend found the slash_lyrics community on Livejournal. First response: oh my god, it's our dream community! Second response: oh, how woefully incomplete it is! So we all started listing songs that alluded to queer relationships (or just some good old fashioned gay lovin', or used bumsex as a metaphor for drugs or... whatever). Our list came to about 51.

"I've heard maybe nine of these!" said sweet [livejournal.com profile] fridge_buzz_now.

Well, we couldn't have that! I had all the songs we were talking about on hand (which says a lot of sad things about my CD collection), but we're both still on caveman dial-up, so sending them that way was out. I decided to burn her a box set because HER LIFE WAS INCOMPLETE. But I had no CD cases.

And so the CD book was born:

Full of lyrics, pictures, and of course, CDs.

Each CD nestles in the beginning of its very own signature. The slots for them are mostly taped on, because I didn't really have room to glue them in all pretty. Clearly, I plan these things well.

I added the lyrics because... they're the whole reason the set exists. That, and I needed something to take up space. Printing these was by far the hardest part--I used these instructions for making the book itself, and they're fabulous, but it took a lot of planning to get the lyrics in the right order in each signature. Then I had to get them to print correctly on each side of the half-sheets...

On the plus side, I could use any paper that wasn't messed up on both sides to print the pictures! Yay!

The sections for each CD are all different colors to make for easy browsing. And because there had to be a rainbow. It's a compilation of gay songs, for god's sake.

And when it's all tied up for safe shipping, who would guess that it's full of sexual deviancy?

I imagine no one cares enough for five pictures, but hey! It's the first book I've actually completed, so I feel like I should give it some love.

And now for my question: For those of you that use it: where do you get your grommet tape? I have been enlightened! But if anyone gets theirs obscenely cheap from some kind of crazy fabric speakeasy, I'd still like to know.

I tried to limit it to the ones that actually suggested relationships instead of just being really fruity, because otherwise I would have to include everything the Pet Shop Boys have ever done. And yes, some of them aren't strictly queer (My Sweet Prince, for instance), but use your imagination here.
