Trumpy Shirt & new earrings
Mar. 26th, 2006 06:07 pmI had a pretty productive Saturday ;) I've been wanting to make a Trumpy shirt for a while, & finally got a cheap shirt to put it on. Trumpy is an alien from the MST3K movie "Pod People", which is my favorite.

(the letters got a little pixelated in the picture)
And I had to put this on the back of the shirt~

This was a stencil done with freezer paper & painted with acrylic paint mixed with textile medium. Once I've ironed on the freezer paper, I like to get some small scissors & snip out the pieces that connect the islands. Iron it again to make sure everything still sticks well, and then you don't have to worry about touching it up later. I used the same font from the movie boxes ~ Asimov.
I had some troubles with this shirt I don't normally have... on the "ah" on the back the paper came up in one spot & it bleed some, but not too horrible. Also, the shirt material is really stretchy, so the paint keeps wanting to split. I had to touch up some splits around the chest area, but most of them do not show. I might take a sharpie to any places that give me troubles later. All in all, I am quite pleased. :D
Also, I just got about 17+" of hair chopped off (see above pic of the new cut), and I love wearing my dangly earrings with the new hair cut. There were a few colors I still needed, so I whipped up four new pairs.

I had a lot of fun making these. I only had some wire & two sizes of jump rings, so I played around with some techniques I haven't used before. The silver pair is made with chimes that I removed from an old anklet I never wear.
