Tipping Roses?

So when you get flowers “tipped” at a florist what do they use? Would spray paint work without making the flowers die? See I’m making my own arrangement for prom and I was wanting to tip my white roses in gold, and I was wondering if gold spray paint would work, I know I would just need to just LIGHTLY do the tips if I did it. Thanks.
