Help, please :]

Okay today while my parents cleaned out the garage Dad found some of his hold Navy uniforms so I want to change the pants so they fit me. Luckily (??) for me, the waist doesn't need to be adjusted, they are just long and baggy around the crotch. Now, do I want to sew along the inside of my legs, up to the crotch and then back around, or should I bring it in from like the bottom of the zipper around to the back between the pockets?
