first handspun yarn.
May. 2nd, 2006 11:46 amas seen over at
spinnyjane (my spining journal,) my first real handspun yarn:

Imperfect Gesture 01
here's my first "real" skein of handspun: 35 yards of randomly-spun fairly regular Corriedale thick and thin (for lack of a better name--the width is fairly consistent) yarn. there is a good amount of turquoise in this yarn but it's hard to see in this picture (especially when its plied with the medium blue sections.)
and now, thewhores yarn:
what makes me happy is that unlike previous spinning experiments, this yarn is not bulky at all. it's comparable to sock yarn, which is what i'm aiming for. it's just going to be a matter of practice, is all. i'm not thrilled with my skeining abilites, but i'm sure that will come with time too.
[pardon my x-posting]
